THE LUCKY 13!
What is something new you have learned about creativity by observing children?
They just do. No fear, no apologies, no filters. They believe in what they create.
*In Mad Hatter terms* In a time when you lost your "much-iness,” what did you do to get your much muchier back?
Got a spunky haircut because when I look in the mirror and do not recognize the reflection peering back at me, I realize I’ve not been tending to the free spirit within. She LOVES fun hair.
How does a regular creative practice infuse other parts of your life?
It energizes me. When my inspiration feels depleted, so do I. But when the inspiration takes over, it makes everything else feel easier to manage. I feel accomplished. I’ve also realized recently if I tend to my Creative Flow, I actually don’t mind making plans and leaving that house!! haha!!
Do you practice any moon rituals? If so, please share.
I keep my moon rituals simple. It’s not ALL the time though, only when the energy is there. They usually consist of a list (release for Full, manifest for New) that I will read aloud to Momma Moon herself and then I burn it. I usually have a few crystals & any other items I’m drawn to sitting with me. I always smudge beforehand. If it’s warm enough I perform my ritual outside. Then I draw an oracle card from whatever deck speaks to me. Journaling about my experiences helps keep me on track.
What truth do you whisper to yourself just before you go to sleep?
I am blessed. I am loved...even after a hard day. (usually there are 2-3 cats and a hubby snuggled all around me. d’awww)
What do you consider to be home and how do you get there?
Home is my husband and my cats. It’s my comfort space, where I feed my heart with LOVE. How do I get there? By reminding myself to show up, to be present when I’m with them. Both being creative wonders, me and hubs very easily get lost down the rabbit hole of our projects. My fur wizard sidekick, Gandalf is always able to bring me back. When I don’t pay enough attention to him, he gets up on places he’s not supposed to so that I DO pay attention. I tend to be the same way when my inner self misses my hubs full attention. I get agitated and short fused. Its then we need to have a family night snuggled on the couch so we all get the love and attention we crave.
Is there a ritual you use to invoke your creative Muse?
I always like to smudge my creative space, burn some Nag Champa, and light a Creative Muse candle (yep! It’s called that!!) crafted by House of Good Juju. I brew a hot cuppa tea. Depending on my mood I will either play music or I’ll put on a fun movie that inspires (Harry Potter, Willow, Chocolat, etc). Sometimes when I’m really lucky the hubs will be creating music which inspires me and our little home becomes our Creative Palace. Inspiration just flows through from all ends.
Name an artist that is currently inspiring you and share why.
It’s not easy to think of just one artist at the moment. I am constantly stumbling across artists that inspire me. I can say that am always inspired by SMS artists. It’s what has kept me going. You guys are always giving me reminders WHY I should and NEED to keep going. So, THANK YOU!! THANK YOU, ALL!!
Tell us about something beautiful you saw this week.
I was driving to work and we still have snow everywhere. I was on the highway and although the roads are pretty much bare, there were heavy winds carrying wisps of snow across them. I was mesmerized for a split second because it literally looked like faery dust whirling around and then just disappearing. I just wanted it to swirl around my car and carry me away to Oz, Hogwarts, The Shire, Neverland........
Write us the opening lines to your next week.
Well......this is going to be a grand adventure.......
What color means something to you currently and why?
White (an ethereal white)...it cleanses me. When I start to get worked up with anxiety, I find myself breathing in white and surrounding myself in it to wash away the angsty feels.
Do you collect anything?
I collect crystals, books (so many books!!), kindred’s art pieces, artist friends, cats, kimonos, bell bottoms, tea, all things tea!!!
What’s the last great book you read?
How To Be A Wildflower by Katie Daisy. It’s packed full of nature goodness and her art!! When I look through it, it inspires me to go out, roll around in the grass, and art all over!!
Sheena Lengel is a shapeshifting wildewoman that lives on a hilltop called Lengel Acres: Boho Faery Sanctuary. The sparkle of a unicorn, the soul of a faery, the blood of a dragon, and so on and so on and so on…She lives with her musician Lion King, Mufasa (aka Tim) and 2 fur wizards (aka cats), Brube & Gandalf. She has no Muggle children but she is the eclectic Faery GodMother to the kiddos that dare come to visit!! By day she works in an office environment with Muggles, but her true passion is massage therapy!! Music, creating, laughter, snoozin’, tea, coffee, all creatures, campfires, Alice Cooper…...those are only a few of the things that make her soul soar. So yeah…that paints a nice peekture.
