THE LUCKY 13!
What is something new you have learned about creativity by observing children?
That absolutely everything is possible. Just because it doesn’t make sense to me doesn’t make it impossible - ever.
*In Mad Hatter terms* In a time when you lost your "much-iness,” what did you do to get your much muchier back?
I tend to lose my “much-iness” often...I find it again, again, again - in the water. Dipping my toes, or standing on bridges & watching a river run - there my Much-iness gains enough strength to return in force.
How does a regular creative practice infuse other parts of your life?
A regular creative practice infuses other parts of my life in ways I am still beginning to understand. Like cream in my coffee, or gravy on biscuits - it makes my life sweeter...savorier….better, just like pen to paper. It’s something I’m curious about, & like to observe.
Do you practice any moon rituals? If so, please share.
I like to keep a bottle of Moon Water in my kitchen. I tend to make it batches, with empty wine bottles - that way, if I forget a moon cycle, I have some tucked away!
What truth do you whisper to yourself just before you go to sleep?
Everything is OK. Every day is a do-over, & tomorrow is no exception.
What do you consider to be home and how do you get there?
I think Home is elusive. It’s something you just know...not a building, or a city, but a feeling.
Is there a ritual you use to invoke your creative Muse?
Music seems to make my Muse poke it’s head out to play. I throw on some tunes, have a dance party for one, & wait for her to show up.
Name an artist that is currently inspiring you and share why.
Right now, I’m inspired by Chef Kwame Onwuachi. Not an artist in the traditional sense, but one who is using plates as canvas, & ingredients as tools. Each dish is a meticulously prepared work of art. There’s something so beautiful & inspiring about the way he creates art with food.
Tell us about something beautiful you saw this week.
This week I was struck by the incredibly powerful beauty in the strong, quiet resolve growing beneath mascara stained cheeks.
Write us the opening lines to your next week.
She isn’t sure of anything except that everything would come together in marvelous ways, beyond the scope of imagination.
What color means something to you currently and why?
I’m really drawn to fiery reds & burnt oranges right now. The vibrant colors of Fall, blazing in their last burst of life before hibernation.
Do you collect anything?
Books & records.
What’s the last great book you read?
Bob Dylan : The Essential Interviews. A peek into the enigma that is Bobby D - I couldn’t get enough of it!
I’m Cassie Aswani. I love coffee, biscuits, proscuitto, & whiskey. My soul craves Adventure. I blog intermittently over at CiCisCastle & would love for you to swing by. I try to talk about the Hard Things in life - balancing them with the Great Things. It isn’t always easy or pleasant, but I know in my bones that our stories have great power: Transformation. Growth. Expansion. Enlightenment. Whatever we need, we can always find it in a story. I believe life is an Adventure, even when it feels mundane.
