I get to teach a Mail Art class at the library this weekend, and I am thoroughly enjoying the research that is leading up to it. It is expanding my understanding of why I have created the Secret Message Society and The Magic School.
Here are a few things I've discovered while following the white rabbit:
- The book, Good Mail Day, is a gem and the colorful photos of mail art make me so happy. (Thanks @SugarFig for the book suggestion.)
- This is a great resource for envelope folding.
- I am intrigued by certain aspects of the Fluxus Movement and that they used the post office for art purposes. What if you think of mail art as a traveling art gallery via the letterbox? Or a way to deliver important secret messages via a special portal? Or like a teleportating page ripped from your art journal?
