I finished reading Atlas Shrugged yesterday. It's been a wonderful three year journey with both The Fountainhead and Atlas.
When I came across this quote, I wanted to share it because I believe it goes along with what I was saying in my last post about allowing for failure because you can't know what you don't know, and when you do know you can adjust accordingly.
I bought a bottle of wine yesterday by the title of Manifesto. I needed to document the beginning of a new chapter, a new act in this play I am writing. That word "manifesto" has been powerful to me since I read Self-Reliance by Emerson. It was the working title of my Thrashing book, "Messy Manifesto." And now I believe I am picking up where I left off, cycling back around to my life before I took a 5 year pause to figure out some personal things. Now my manifesto pulses with the will to seek and enjoy.
I'm starting a new glue book today. A tiny little cahier notebook that I can carry along with me and the first page will have glued in it the label from this wine bottle.
A cheers to all the artists who are willing to face reality AND imagination. The real world AND possibility. The work AND the play of living. Hence forth, let's enjoy ourselves, shall we? And when we hit our edge, let's expand. We are people of expansion.
